Medical Disclaimer & Terms of Use

IMPORTANT: READ BEFORE USING genoCDS

genoCDS is a clinical reference tool intended for use by qualified healthcare professionals as a supplementary resource only. It is not a medical device, does not provide individualized medical advice, and must not be used as a substitute for professional clinical judgment.

1. Purpose and Intended Users

genoCDS summarizes genomic testing guidance for oncology from published clinical guidelines, regulatory approvals, and peer-reviewed literature. It is intended for use by oncologists, pathologists, genetic counselors, tumor board coordinators, and other qualified healthcare professionals as a supplementary educational and reference resource.

genoCDS is not intended for use by patients or the general public as a basis for self-diagnosis or treatment decisions. Nothing on this site constitutes a physician-patient relationship.

2. Not a Substitute for Clinical Judgment

genoCDS is explicitly not a replacement for:

  • Professional medical judgment, clinical expertise, or patient-specific evaluation
  • Consultation with qualified oncologists, pathologists, or genetic counselors
  • Your institution's clinical protocols, tumor board decisions, or laboratory guidelines
  • Individualized assessment of a patient's performance status, organ function, comorbidities, and values
  • Any applicable professional standards of care

Testing recommendations must always be interpreted in the context of the individual patient's complete clinical picture.

3. Accuracy and Completeness

While we make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy, genoCDS content:

  • May contain errors, omissions, or outdated recommendations. Clinical guidelines change frequently; content may lag behind current evidence.
  • Is paraphrased from source materials and may not precisely reflect the nuance of original guidance.
  • Represents a synthesis of multiple evidence sources that may conflict with each other.
  • Does not capture all applicable clinical considerations for every patient population.
  • May not account for newly approved therapies, emerging biomarkers, or recent regulatory actions.

Always verify testing recommendations directly against current primary sources — including NCCN guidelines, FDA labeling, ASCO/ESMO guidelines, and OncoKB — before making clinical decisions.

4. Payer Coverage Information

Coverage information shown for CMS and commercial payers (UnitedHealthcare, Anthem BCBS, Humana, Cigna, Aetna) is a general summary only and:

  • May not reflect the most current Local Coverage Determination (LCD), National Coverage Determination (NCD), or commercial medical policy.
  • Does not account for individual patient benefit design, formulary, or prior authorization requirements specific to a plan.
  • May differ from coverage determinations for specific ICD-10 diagnosis codes or CPT/HCPCS billing codes.
  • Is not a pre-authorization determination or guarantee of payment.

Always verify coverage directly with the relevant payer and applicable LCD/NCD before ordering tests or counseling patients on coverage expectations.

5. Evidence Sources and Bias

genoCDS draws from FDA regulatory approvals, ASCO, ESMO, and OncoKB evidence tiers, as well as NCCN guidelines (paraphrased and cited — not reproduced verbatim). Each source has its own methodology, conflict-of-interest policies, and scope. genoCDS does not endorse any particular guideline body, laboratory, diagnostic company, or therapeutic manufacturer.

6. No Warranty; Limitation of Liability

genoCDS is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Locus Oncology and the operators of genoCDS disclaim all liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of or reliance on the information presented.

Use of this resource is at the user's own professional judgment and risk.

7. No Patient Data

genoCDS does not collect, process, or store any patient health information (PHI). It is a population-level reference tool. API consumers are responsible for ensuring HIPAA compliance in any systems that use the genoCDS API in conjunction with patient data.
